Hi,
Just wondering if anyone could give me some advice. I'm about to start doing some real time in a new lab I've just joined and they don't have a pCR hood in their own lab. They do however have a fume hood (with UV light). Would it be ok to give this a good clean down and use for PCR? Or am I best to 'borrow' a hood in another lab?
Any advice would be appreciated,
Many thanks!

You want to absolutely, totally avoid air flow on your tubes. So a chemical hood is a big no-no. Good PCR hoods are those simple ones with an UV lamp and no air flow.
