PROTEIN LOCALIZATION ??

Postby giri » Jun 04 2012 6:09 am

Hi All,

I have measured proteins by western blot for my experiments and I have used the term PROTEIN LOCALIZATION (and RNA EXPRESSION) in my manuscript tittle (Impaired protein localization of....)
How ever some authors have disagreed that protein localization is not the correct term. They say protein localization is for histochemistry.

is there any term to mention the production of proteins or level of protein which could be used with the word "impair".

Protein localization can be done with Western blot using specific subcellular protein extraction. If you only show lower (impaired) level of protein without indication of a specific subcellular location (e.g. cytosolic vs nuclear), then "localizationn" should not be used.
